Pokémon Go: Don’t Catch a Ticket

| July 20, 2016

The new craze of Pokémon Go has not only been extremely popular but has also caused some potentially dangerous situations. The game is based on augmented reality which uses your smart phone to put you into the Pokémon world where you hunt and catch them. Many people have become so obsessed with it that they play while driving. This distracted driving has already been the reported cause of accidents everywhere the game has launched. But drivers are not the only ones distracted by the game many pedestrians have been reported to not be paying attention and to walk into the street. A pair of men even fell to their deaths off a cliff while playing the game.

The sudden surge of people who are now distracted on the road and sidewalks is a problem for everyone. This means that drivers have to be extra vigilant of other drivers and of people wandering into the road. This should be a concern for anyone with a teenager on their policy. They should make sure to tell them to be aware of their surroundings; an accident can sharply increase premiums. They are also putting themselves at risk to potentially fatally hurt someone. In areas like Woodland Hills, Agoura Hills, Thousand Oaks, Calabasas and other residential neighborhoods it will be very important to stay alert because of all the children who are out on summer vacation and playing this game. But if you do decide to play the game make sure to stay safe.
